Flow is something that happens when you become so involved in an activity that it overtakes every sense. You think of only doing and every molecule becomes enraptured by the task at hand. Many describe this feeling as being in the "zone." Depending on what interests you you may experience flow during different situations. Many people mention being in the "zone" when playing a sport or doing something creative.
For me I fall into the "zone" when I am painting and have the music up as loud as it will go. That mixture of my two favorite things lets me forget about everything else for a few hours and just let go. It is a state of mind that one enters while doing something that they love so much that they no longer have to consciously do any part of it. Every movement becomes reflex and without thought.
You don't even have to be good at the thing that you're doing. I know I'm a terrible painter but that's not the point. Its the act of doing it that's enjoyable and that should always be the point of any activity.
