Michael Honig Viewing Naure Interactively

I walked to the Lions Bridge and then along the trail with my friends and my girlfriend. We rested on the bridge before walking the trail. Nina got mad at me because I was smoking again. I sighed and told her I was trying to cut down, but she wasn’t convinced. The heat didn’t help her temper. All I could do was let it play out as we walked along the trail. After resting up on the bridge, she simmered down a bit, and we began to walk the trail. I hung back a bit from my friends so I could try to talk to her, but she wasn’t much up for it. Then, I noticed things about the trail that gave me sort of an epiphany. Sure there are things about the trail that were less than enjoyable. The pollen caked on the trees like sulphuric vomit, people’s careless waste, carvings on the trees here and there immortalizing a couple’s idiocy, and worst of all, the heat. But those were small details that will never permanently scar the beauty of the trail. There are so many things that we will always be able to enjoy as long as the forest is there. The beautiful sound the trees make right before you feel a refreshing breeze, the reflection of the opposite bank in the glistening water, the animals that live there, and the people who manage to come there and be respectful of what should be preserved. I told her that I have my faults, but I’m willing to try to change for the better if it makes me a better person.
