Spenser Fleming--Turner and Liminality

Turner speaks of the liminoid experience brought about through pilgrimage. Since discussing this I have found that liminality is experienced at many levels. A pilgrimage is just an extreme form, in the sense that leaving yourself behind and entering a place neither here nor there is physically forced. I would venture as far as to say that because the experience is generally driven by religious or some greater outside influence that one becomes led by the pilgrimage. All there is, is you and the pilgrimage.
