Brittany Wissen -- The Yanesha Community

In the article “Writing History into the Landscape: Space, Myth, and Ritual in Contemporary Amazonia,” author Fernando Santos-Granero describes his pilgrimage to the Yanesa tribe in order to learn about their ideas of ritual and myth. Both ritual and myth are very important aspects in what we are learning in class, and the read was interesting—seeing how other cultures than predominantly Christian ones handle ritual and storytelling.
