Elizabeth Dean 14: Cold Fever and its Similarities to Wyoming

Cold Fever and its Similarities to Wyoming
Cold Fever is a hauntingly spiritual movie about a Japanese man that ahs to make a journey to Iceland to carry out a family tradition. Over the course of the quest, the man encounters many different people, obstacles, and tough situations that prevent him from getting to his ultimate location quickly, and easily. He enters his quest with a closed and pessimisstic mind frame, but leaves with a new appreciation for tradition, after ritualitically experiencing it. I can relate this to an own experience of mine with similar characteristics to this story line. When I was in 8th grade one of my old relatives I had never even met passed, and we all had to make the trip to Wyoming to attend the funeral. While I was sad after gaining knowledge of this death, I was selfish and admittedly more sad that I would be missing out on my 8th grade party. The party was a big deal at my school; The PTA goes cray and looks forward to it 8 years in advance, and they spend tons of superfulous money, and its a big event. When I went to the funeral, instead of the party I was first really upset about it becasue I had been looking forward to this party for a long time. In Wyoming I actually had a lot of close bonding time that you don't always get with your family, and I experienced a sense of peace to just get away from the day to day in Nova, and be out in Wyoming with the people I love the most. I was ultimatly happy I was forced to go to the fuenral because of the re-established bond, and the peacefulness and break from day to day I got from being there.
