Jenna Wall: Outside Reading

Jenna Wall - 4/23

While doing research for my paper on the Via Dolorosa I came across David Hare’s book several times. In this book David Hare discusses his travels to Israel and the questions he faced about his own values and morals. He goes into detail about the controversy between Israel and Palestine and how those countries fail to see eye to eye. Though this book and play is said to be reflective, it is not a source that is supported by facts. The author shares with the audience how he portrayed it to be and fails to stress the experience of the Via Dolorosa itself. The questions he asked about his own values seem to be common among pilgrims. He went on a journey and questions arose about himself. On Hare's journey he was able to undergo self discovery and learn more about the man he is and the man he is becoming.
