I went to my girlfriend's apartment with a mutual friend of ours today. When we got the door of her place it was locked and she calls to tell us that she's getting her hair cut and won't be back for a while. Not having any better ideas to kill the time with we decided to walk around the wooded area behind the apartments. It was around in the evening but the days have gotten so much longer that we had plenty of light. Despite us being in the middle of Newport News we were able to escape the all reminders that we were in a city within minutes of walking. My friend and I talked to each other only when necessary because otherwise we were absorbing the beauty of the area. We ended up wandering around there for almost an hour before She came back to let us in to the apartment. I wanted to blow off some steam today by hanging out with my friends but the period spent in the woods proved to be much more therapeutic.
