What is your definition of a pilgrimage? Does a pilgrimage have to be to a place that is deemed “sacred?” I think that people make pilgrimages regularly whether they know it or not. For example, many people travel long distances during the holiday seasons like Thanksgiving or Christmas. I personally know many people who travel to the same place every year, and do the same things every year. Can you consider that ritualizing?
Rituals are in my opinion, a form of tradition. If your family travels every year to the same place, isn’t that considered ritualizing? These treks that people make I believe, are considered pilgrimages. The things they do when they arrive in my opinion can be considered rituals as well.
