Lane’s first axiom applies to many sacred places in America. Gettysburg, Pearl Harbor, Yorktown are all examples of how sacred place is not chosen it chooses. All three of these places were locations of unintended bloodshed, and loss of life. These places were never planned to be “sacred” places, it was only after the attacks, the battles, and the loss of life were these places deemed “sacred.”
I think that any place can be considered “sacred” to a person. Every person has their own memories and experiences they have made at certain places. A location doesn’t have to be considered “sacred” for religious reasons, it can be “sacred” to any person for any reason they like.
