I recently did a research paper on the history of ice hockey from its beginning to what it has evolved to now. During my research I acquired a book called Putting a Roof on Winter, along with various other sources about the beginnings of ice hockey. My research enabled me to find that the first official hockey game was held at Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal on March 3, 1875.
I believe that Victoria Skating Rink is a sacred place. This rink embodies all of what hockey is now. This is where history was first made, and nothing will ever change that. This place even relates to Lanes second axiom as well. The rink is an ordinary place, ritually made extraordinary because people from all over travel long distance to see the rink and enjoy the history behind it. It is also storied place, because people are learning about this place every day. Stories of the first ice hockey game are documented, and have been passed down from generation to generation.
