Spenser Fleming--Lanes Experience

When reading Lane I found his deer story to be rather significant and one I could relate to. Telling his story of searching for something sacred on the mountain only to be disappointed until he gave up. That it was when he gave up that sacred place chose him, as lane states that sacred place chooses you. He was led to the clearing where he shared a moment in time with that doe, and for both he and the doe that clearing was made sacred in their memories. I can relate to this story, I have one of my own almost just the same. As a kid I ventured into the 26 acres of woods my parents owned in search of a entrance to another world. I have always been fascinated with such fantasies...like Narnia. Like everyday before that I was disappointed with no findings and not even a cool stick, a poor day. Many deer traveled through my woods and I knew they had a resting place as you could see where the grass was flatten from repeated rest stops. On my way back to my house I was not really paying attention at all and just headed in the general direction of my house. I came to that rest stop, but this time the deer were still there. I froze, they froze. Three of them, one of me. It seemed like a very long pause but doubt it was more than 3 seconds before they all ran off. To this day I can go to that spot physically and mentally and see those three deer.
