Spenser Fleming--Mt. Rogers
I went on a two day hike up Mt. Rogers and was super excited about it. While I was up there I had no idea what to expect and was not really looking for anything specifically. I was just walking up the mountain. Well, I would say we were about two hours from the top and we took a stop and everyone grounded packs and decided to take a seat for some rest. I however was drawn to explore with my camera. I walked away from the group by myself, again just walking. I got into some think bushes but made my way through, yet I was throughly surprised to find myself face to face with a highland pony. It was very young and curious so it did not run, but as it inched a little closer to investigate a male had other plans and put himself between me and the young one. I did not feel threatened I simply understood the intent to protect. The mother came up to the baby and led it off and then as quickly as he came he left. It was something I will never forget. I believe I was led to the place,as Lane states that a place chooses.
