Andrew Carr- Into the wild

A final outside reading of mine is Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. This book is about a college student who takes off across the country searching for what he wants to do post college. He hitchkikes his way to Alaska where he heads out into the wilderness and proceeds to die. I found this book very frustrating and had a hard time comprehending how someone could decide to hike into the Alaskan wilderness with absolutely no training or experience in wilderness survival. The wilderness is tremendous, powerful, and unforgiving and it will kill those who do not respect it. His inability to feed himself and keep himself warm lead to his death. I think this is a great example of wilderness and its unforgiving power.
