Andrew Carr- A walk in the woods

I read the novel A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson while I was serving overseas. While reading it I realized that his experiences were completely different than mine had been while on the Appalachian Trail while in Ranger School. I did not want to set foot in those mountains again, and had trouble relating to his passion to hike the trail because my own personal experiences had been so different. However, now that I have been out of the military and been backpacking on my own. I find it to be one of the most peaceful places in the world. The solitude and quiet that the woods and trails bring to me are amazing.
