Brittany Wissen -- Animal Rescue

My mother and I are very involved in dog rescue, particularly with the Chinese Shar-Pei. As soon as the weather gets warm in the Spring, a number of events spring up everywhere. I take my weekends off from schoolwork, most of the time, so that I can go with her. I love watching animals play outside. They are the perfect example of appreciating nature for what it is, and I think that humans should strive to achieve the same feeling about nature. An event I went to with my mother last week in Portsmouth on the waterfront marina was especially a lot of fun. We had two Shar-Pei with us, Brutus and Lea. Brutus especially enjoyed rolling around in the grass. We spent 4 hours playing with them, and so did many others who came to see all the different breeds, earning money toward our cause. Our kiosk sold lots of different items pertaining to Chinese-Shar-Pei, and as I said, many people donated. The day ended with one last romp between the two new friends, Brutus and Lea, after which they slept the entire car ride home, thoroughly exhausted.
