Heather Lees - Travel and Leisure - Spiritual Journey

Looking at a travel and leisure website, I came across an article about a woman's spiritual journey on her travels to Rajghat. The article was written by Gigi Alhadeff and she talked about specific things such as the light that is reflected in certain bodys of water and other aspects of nature that can be particular beautiful but often times looked past. Talking about being able to share an Ashram experience, which is being able to experience certain Indian cultural things such as the type of music that they listen to as well as yoga, religion, and moral outlooks.

Even going into an experience like this, I can imagine that it automatically gives off some type of a spiritual journey. Being able to go through the culture that another country goes through that is completely out of your comfort zones seems like it is something that would benefit most people. Modern day, it seems as though most people have a very selfish outlook and don't take other people's culture into consideration. In class, we talk a lot about religion and how it tends to mostly be the individuals personal choice when it comes down to which rituals they follow, etc. Gigi writes about how even just looking back on the memories that she had experienced throughout her journey, she is almost even able to smell the area that she stayed in. Being in Benares, according to Gigi, let off a kind of smokey smell that was probably a result of the corpses that were surrounding the area. This entire article really put into perspective the differences that can take plae in places that we may have never seen before.
