The other day in class Dr. Redick was telling us about his friend who had made the decision to never speak again. He would whistle and gesticulate and if he really needed to convey a certain point he would write it down. I thought of other examples of how communication involves so much more than just words. Body language and hand gestures can be as effective for getting your point across as talking. A smile can relay much more information about feelings of affection towards someone than describing it verbally. People talk too much anyway and it is refreshing to come across people who do not feel the compulsion to let everyone know what they think.
