Because I was unable to make last week’s class, I biked to and walked the Noland trail on my own. Today was not as warm as it has been lately, but 65 degrees is fine by me any day. Although I have been at CNU for a while, today was actually my first time at the Noland trail. As I got further down the trail I came to a bridge where I noticed four massive white stone lions eying me down as though I was their prey. It was just about1 p.m. and although it was not physically hot out, I could still feel the suns presence upon my neck.
I came upon a spot where the wild geese roam freely and are liable to attack innocent bystanders at will. I have already had a negative experience with geese. When I was younger, I was taking my dog for a walk at the pond behind my parent’s house, another location where the wild geese roam carefree. All of a sudden a goose came out of nowhere and tried to bite my dog. I kicked this goose as hard as I could, and ran home immediately. This Noland trail experience literally brought me back to my eventful childhood, as I don’t like geese.
Since I rode my bike, which in my opinion is constructed magnificently, and reminds me of Lance Armstrong with its brilliant yellow color and thin racing tires, all the way from campus to the Noland trail, I decided to hop on and ride the whole loop. During my ride, I observed a mixture of beautiful wildflowers and unsightly rotted tree trunks.
Because I was merely a wandering soul in nature’s world, I figured I would intake all that my environment would show me. Although I am an avid hiker/camper and in my opinion very in touch with nature already, I believe my trip to the Noland trail was much of enlightenment. Because I hadn’t been in touch with nature lately per say, I feel as though it was a great experience for me.
